Pin It Forward UK

UnknownPinterest launched in the US a few years ago, and now they’re in the midst of a ‘Pin It Forward UK’ campaign. But everyone has already heard of it over here - right? Well, apparently not! Gasp! So they have asked 300 UK bloggers to share their boards and stories throughout May to help spread the Pinterest love. And I'm chuffed to have been asked because, well, I do love it.

Pinterest could have been invented for weddings. It is basically a beautiful online scrapbook. Gone are the days of a long computer ‘bookmark’ list – now you can gather any images that you like online with one click. Not only will they look gorgeous and inspiring all jostling together, but once you click that image it takes you back to the site and page that you originally pinned it from; perfect if it’s something that you intend to buy…

Create different boards for different parts of your big day to make things extra easy to come back to – shoes, flowers, favours, hairstyles etc etc. Create boards to cross-reference, too, so you can see everything fitting together. Just the creation of them will get your creative juices flowing, help you make decisions, see what goes with what and spur you on to add even more magic to your day!

For my work, I find Pinterest invaluable - both inspiring and efficient. I use it for gathering things I love and want to keep for later, such as colour combinations or ways to use a luggage tag, and for creating mood boards for my blog or stationery designs - it enables me to create a whole wedding 'look' behind the design. Check out my Love is Sweet board, for example – a collection of perfectly pastel wedding delights.

What I particularly love about Pinterest is that there are no boundaries – you see images that other people have pinned from all points of view, so you’re not constrained to the typical ‘wedding’ look or ideas when creating your own! It is of course fantastic for personal use too - I pin style and interior images that I love, and tattoos that I may, one day, add to my collection (sorry Mum).
