Displaying Your Wedding Favours

It's well known that we love a creative wedding favour here at Wedding in a Teacup. It's true; they are not essential, but they do add a little extra special something to your décor and your day. The custom of handing out gifts to wedding guests can be dated back as far as the 16th century, and when you think of the effort that wedding guests go to to share your day with you, it's not hard to see why the custom has lasted so long.

With so many choices now there's no need to stick to sugar coated almonds; from seeds to sweets, to badges and boxes, there's sure to be something that you can either buy or make that will suit you as a couple. Once you have chosen what you'd like, then it's time to think about how you'd like to display them …

The most common place for favours to be placed is on the table at each guest's place setting. This not only adds an extra splash of colour and decor to your tables, but ensures that everyone gets their gift. You can make favours work extra hard here by using them as place markers too; add a luggage tag to pots of homemade jam, or stamp or sticker the guests name straight onto a paper bag filled with sweets...

Favours can also be incorporated into your table plan; a great way to make sure it's noticed! Personalised badges can be added to luggage tags for the guests to take down and pop on for instant introductions (and great ice breakers too). Or peg personalised seed packet favours to a notice board and tie with mini tags with each guest's name and table number on it...

Finally, if your tables are fancy enough, and your table plan is sorted, why not create an eye-catching display of favours at your reception venue? This is a simple way to extract real ‘wow’ factor from your favours – there’s power in numbers! An old dresser or chest of drawers works fantastically to display edible favours.

Or we love the idea of using an old wheelbarrow to show off your seed packets… Who wouldn't be delighted to be greeted with this display?! Are you giving favours at your wedding? Which have you chosen, and how are you displaying them? We'd love to know!
